Fillings

White / Composite fillings

White composite resin is a little more expensive than silver amalgam but the benefit of retaining the appearance of your natural teeth is well worth it. We only use high-quality composites known for their exceptional durability that look exactly like your natural teeth.

  • White or tooth coloured fillings provide a more natural, mercury-free alternative to traditional silver amalgam fillings
  • They allow for a minimally invasive restoration meaning more of your natural tooth can be preserved.
  • Silver fillings are noticeable and can make you feel self-conscious, whilst white filings can be used in the front or the back of the mouth

White Fillings FAQs

How long will my white fillings last?

New materials are used to make white fillings as durable and long-lasting as the amalgam version. The length of time white fillings last depends on where they’re placed in your mouth and how your teeth come together when you bite.

Are Inlays and Onlays better for larger cavities?

White fillings are best for small to medium sized cavities. For large cavities you may consider inlays or onlays, which bridge the gap between a small filling and the need to cover the tooth entirely with a crown. See our Inlays and Onlays page for more information.
